For more than twenty two years, CHDI has been at the forefront of promoting access to quality health care for all residents of Southwest Texas. In addition to providing residents with a choice when it comes to health care, the agency has also serves as a stable economic engine, generating jobs and revenue for the community. Although the agency has a long list of accomplishments, the following represent some of the most recent and significant changes over the past few years:
- The addition of the Center for Community Wellness campus at 908 South Evans Street in Uvalde. This three building facility will house our Oral Health Department, a new Mental/Behavioral Health Department, Teaching Kitchen, Fitness/Exercise Facility, Electronic Health Records and Administrative Offices.
- Upgrade of Rolling Hills Health, our satellite health center, in Leakey, including new medical exam equipment, office equipment and furniture and a fresh coat of paint!
- Addition of an Convenient Care program to Our Health/Nuestro Centro de Salud in Uvalde, where minor scrapes, bumps, fevers and such are examined and treated in quicker time than a standard appointment. Also available on Saturdays for those unexpected DIY project mishaps.
Our Recruitment Process
CHDI welcomes all applicants for currently posted positions of employment. The following guidelines are followed for processing applications:
- Position vacancy is advertised within CHDI, in the Uvalde Leader News, and often in other venues such as Craigslist.org.
- Applications are accepted in person and online, then are forwarded to Human Resources.
- Candidates accepted for the next stage are interviewed by Human Resources. For clerical positions, a minimum skills test may be administered prior to an interview.
- Following a successful first interview, the candidate’s references are contacted.
- Candidates accepted for the next stage are interviewed by management personnel and the department supervisor.
- Upon a successful second interview and consensus of interviewers, an offer is extended.
